Ultimate FAIL

The people have spoken.

54% (1,421,003 people) of the electoral roll have had their say on the issue of corrective smacking. An overwhelming

87.6%

of New Zealanders have stated their belief that a smack as part of good parental correction should not be a criminal offence.

This result doesn't merely reflect the polls conducted since 2005: it exceeds former polling.

This is the ultimate FAIL for the small Yes Vote group.

Yes Vote Leader Concedes Defeat... FAIL!

Patrick Smellie is one of the leaders of the Yes Vote group. In a post online on 10 June, he admitted that there would be a large No vote.

"You are undoubtedly right that there will be a large No vote. The polling, however, shows there is a large Yes vote available also."

Not only does he concede defeat in the referendum, but he is blind to the consistent polling that shows 83% of Kiwis are opposed to the anti-smacking law.

FAIL!
