This referendum is entirely about religious fundamentalism and nothing to do with secular freedoms. All the proponents of the referendum are the followers of the superstition known as Christianity. Those behind this blog are believers in Christianity. Christians follow a book called The Bible. The Bible endorses physical-punishment of children, specifically…… “Foolishness is bound in the heart of a child; but the rod of correction shall drive it far from him.”“Withhold not correction from the child: for if thou beatest him with the rod, he shall not die.”“Folly is bound up in the heart of a boy, but the rod of discipline drives it far away”“Thou shalt beat him with the rod, and shalt deliver his soul from hell”The Bible therefore specifically requires Christian parents to beat their children to prevent them slipping into Satan’s hands.Beating is exactly the word used, not smacking, but beating. The new-law is against their/your beliefs. So from the orchestrator’s of The Petitions perspective, this is not a question of freedoms, this is a question of rights.Rights to employ old-testament teachings in a modern secular western society, which rejects beating children. Another tenant close to the heart of those proposing the referendum and those who run this site, is the little matter of 'ownership'. In their minds these are not a couples biological off-spring.They are Gods property. The rights ordained to us in Gods best-seller, gives you and me the rights to beat-our-brats with impunity, on Gods behalf. So there you have it folks. All the best.Paul.
